Certification and Training Programs for Coaches, Teachers, Trainers, Athletes and Psychologists

This method is well-suited for professionals with extensive prior education, as well as highly motivated and self-directed persons having experience working with athletes who are interested in advancing their knowledge of sport psychology.

Eligibility
The American Board of Sport Psychology certification programs are available to interested practitioners, coaches, instructors, teachers, educators, psychologists, physicians (Sport Medicine, Psychiatrists, etc.) and athletes.

Description
The curriculum is based on cutting-edge research in the fields of sport psychology, behavioral medicine, psychophysiology, clinical and experimental hypnosis, cognitive psychology, consciousness studies, and motor learning.

The learning and training program was developed by Roland A. Carlstedt, Ph.D.

The training course is an academic and applied program and is designed to help practitioners reliably assess and apply methods of intervention (i.e., mental training) best suited to a specific athlete.

Requirements
The program requires that books and articles are read covering the topics in the curriculum modules including two text books in sport psychology that serve as foundational reading for the course.

A comprehensive course guide with an extensive research bibliography is provided each student.

Thereafter students complete a series of tasks and research centering on the topics of each module.

Assignments are transmitted to a student's instructor through email attachments for feedback and evaluation.

After completing and passing all assignments students are required to complete an applied practicum and final project

Upon successful completion of the final project students will have earned the designation:

CERTIFIED COACH of SPORT PSYCHOLOGY
with emphasis in (sport you specialize in if any)

The Certificate is issued by THE AMERICAN BOARD OF SPORT PSYCHOLOGY

A MASTER COACH OF SPORT PSYCHOLOGY certificate can also be pursued by individuals who possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to psychology or sport psychology.

There are no specific minimum time requirements to complete the program, however, on average, the program usually takes 6-12 months to complete. 

FEE SCHEDULE

All Certificate Programs: $1500.00

An annual membership fee of $100.00 is required to maintain one's listing as a certificate holder in the ABSP registry. Membership also insures access to continuing education credits, workshop discounts and other benefits.

Brief or Short Courses and Seminars 
$400.00 (non-member)

Workshops for Non-Practitioners and Hobby and Amateur Athletes
Negotiable depending on amout of participants.

Consulting
Private Online consultation independent of the certificate program with a SPORT PSYCHOLOGIST (Ph.D level practitioner)is also available starting at $95.00 per hour. This service is primarily for athletes seeking advice regarding performance related problems or the enhancement of performance.
